A quick shout-out for a friend and fellow writer in Wellington whose work I admire greatly, Tim Jones. If you recall, I read Tim’s short story collection, ‘Transported’ earlier this year, and loved it. Tim is currently touring to promote his latest collection of poetry, ‘Men Briefly Explained.’ And yes, it has that same mixture of dry wit and insight I enjoyed so much in ‘Transported’. If you’re in the Wellington region, you can catch him reading tonight at the Rona Gallery in Lower Hutt at 6pm, or tomorrow (Saturday) at 1pm at the Paraparaumu library. Otherwise he’ll be in Auckland on Tuesday 1 November for the Poetry Live event at the Thirsty Dog, 469 Karangahape Road, 8pm.
